چکیده

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has been recognized as a powerful tool for modeling ocean waves and forecasting over an area of 300 km x 300 km. The quantitative descriptors of the ocean surface wave properties such as wave height and wave slope spectra can retrieve from several satellite SAR missions, such as ENVISAT ASAR data. The retrieving techniques of sea surface quantitative descriptors involve linear and nonlinear techniques. In linear technique, Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) used to relate SAR spectra image with real sea surface spectra. This study has demonstrated a new approach for the simulation of wave refraction pattern in airborne radar data. In doing so, the quasi-linear algorithm used to model significant wave height based on the new approach of the azimuth cutoff algorithm. The study shows that wave refraction pattern can simulate from ENVISAT ASAR data with convergence and divergence spectra energy of 0.84 and 0.4 m 2 sec, respectively. In conclusion, modification of the conventional azimuth cutoff algorithm can be used to retrieve significant wave height in Cvvband data under circumstances of wave transformation using first order Partial Differential Equation (PDEs).

Estimation of Two-dimensional Ocean Wave Spectra from Envisat Asar Wave Mode Data Using a Maximum a Posteriori Approach

Two-dimensional ocean wave spectra are measured from ENVISAT ASAR wave mode cross spectra on a global scale. The measurement is performed using a parametric retrieval scheme, which makes use of prior information taken from numerical wave models. The Partition Rescale and Shift algorithm (PARSA) is based on a partitioning technique, which splits an a prior wave spectrum into its wave system comp...

Validation of significant wave height product from Envisat ASAR using triple collocation

Nowadays, spaceborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) has become a powerful tool for providing significant wave height. Traditionally, validation of SAR derived ocean wave height has been carried out against buoy measurements or model outputs, which only yield a inter-comparison, but not an ‘absolute’ validation. In this study, the triple collocation error model has been introduced in the validat...

Hydrodynamic and Trajectory Modeling of the August 11, 2006 M/t Solar 1 Oil Spill in Guimaras, Central Philippines with Validation Using Envisat Asar Data

Oil spill patterns detected from Envisat ASAR images were integrated with hydrodynamic and oil spill trajectory models for the purposes of understanding the August 11, 2006 M/T Solar 1 oil spill, and to evaluate the accuracy of the oil spill patterns simulated by an oil trajectory model. The oil spill incident event that occurred a few kilometers southwest of Guimaras Island in Panay Gulf and I...
